White-water rafting and wading to waterfalls draw scores of weekenders to Kuala Kubu Bharu.
White-water rafting and wading to waterfalls draw scores of weekenders to Kuala Kubu Bharu. The river-splashed trail to Chiling Waterfalls is the prime attraction, but this sleepy town (known locally as KKB) has become a modest hub for white-water rafting and kayaking on the Sungai Selangor.
The original mining town of Kuala Kubu suffered a series of disastrous floods in the late 19th century. A new town was planned nearby in 1925 using the garden-city model: a compact town centre surrounded by parkland. Remaining 1920s shophouses give the town a pleasant, antique feel. KKB is a good way station between KL and lofty hill station Fraser's Hill.
Kuala Kubu Bharu is the town you will pass by if you are on your way to Fraser's Hill, one of the least developed hill resort in Malaysia. Due to the lack of transportation to Fraser's Hill, there are not that many visitors compared to the more developed resorts such as Berjaya Hills, Genting Highlands and Cameron Highlands.
This town is about 50km - 60km away from Kuala Lumpur and the town itself is about 80 years old. Driving here from Kuala Lumpur using the trunk road from Rawang will take approximately 1 hour. Water Rafting at Sungai Selangor, KKB takes about 3 - 4 hours depending on the water level and the group size. This is a perfect weekend outing with friends, for company or offer as a gift to someone special.
Participants will enjoy white water rapids and invigorating river environment. Trip includes rafting equipments, experienced river guides, first aid kit, on-river snacks and buffet lunch. If you are happen to having your vacation in Malaysia, this is an awesome and adventure getaway not to be missed.
