The main Tellian river runs from inland towards Mukah, and along the way, Melanau villages are built by the river here. Nearer to the coast, you will see more Melanau fishing villages and as you go upriver, you see a different type of Melanau village.

Kampung Tellian, a village in Oya, near Mukah, Sarawak, hopes to emulate it with its own market at the picturesque Sungai Tellian. The floating market aims to be a centre where local traders, whose income had been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, can sell agriculture products and seafood.
