Kanowit Warrior Monument

The newly-unveiled Warriors Monument in Kanowit serves to honour the sacrifice and heroism of 12 Border Scouts (BS) who were killed during an encounter with communists at Pendam Bungkang, Sungai Ngemah on Aug 27, 1970.

The memorial also honours five soldiers from the First Battalion Malaysian Rangers who lost their lives in the line of duty while protecting the country from communist threats; and also a Chinese corporal from Kanowit Special Branch who was killed by communists while on duty in 1969.
